Diploma in Material Science (EduQual Level 5)

Welcome to our online Diploma in Material Science program, this course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to succeed in the field of material engineering. This 40-credit Level 5 course is split into two units, Engineering Science and Engineering Materials and their Properties.

Diploma in Material Science is a 40 credit course leading to the qualification of:

Diploma in Material Science (EduQual Level 5)

The course is delivered as an online engineering course, consisting of two 20 credit units. The first unit is a recommended unit which is designed to deliver some fundamental learning required to progress onto the second, specific core unit.

- Unit 1: Engineering Science (recommended*) – This unit covers a broad range of topics which are fundamental to all engineering disciplines; including forces and mechanics, fluid dynamics, energy and heat, material science, and electronics.
- Unit 2: Engineering Materials and their Properties (core) – In this unit, you will learn about the properties and behaviour of various engineering materials, including metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites. You will explore topics such as material selection, processing techniques, and material testing. You will also gain an understanding of the factors that affect material performance, including temperature, stress, and environment. By the end of this unit, you will have a solid understanding of the relationship between material properties and engineering applications.

* The recommended unit can be replaced by a different unit of your choice depending on your personal preference, or previous learning experience.Welcome to our online Diploma in Material Science program, this course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to succeed in the field of material engineering.
