Diploma in Mechanical Technology is a 40 credit course leading to the qualification of:
Diploma in Mechanical Technology (EduQual Level 4)
The course is delivered as an online engineering course, consisting of two 20 credit units. The first unit is a recommended unit which is designed to deliver some fundamental learning required to progress onto the second, specific core unit.
- Unit 1: Engineering Science (recommended*) – This unit covers a broad range of topics which are fundamental to all engineering disciplines; including forces and mechanics, fluid dynamics, energy and heat, material science, and electronics.
- Unit 2: Machines and Systems (core) – Starting with the fundamental mechanical systems in machines such as fasteners, cams, bearings and lubrication, this unit progresses onto the mechanical workings of more complex systems including topics such as power transmission, actuation (pneumatics and hydraulics), power plants, and refrigeration systems.
* The recommended unit can be replaced by a different unit of your choice depending on your personal preference, or previous learning experience.
