The Diploma in Aerospace Structures offered by iLearn Engineering® is a specialist online engineering course that provides in-depth knowledge of aircraft structures.
The iLearn Engineering® Diploma in Aerospace Structures is a 40 credit course leading to the qualification of:
Diploma in Aerospace Structures (EduQual Level 4)
The course is delivered as an online engineering course, consisting of two 20 credit units. The first unit is a recommended unit which is designed to deliver some fundamental learning required to progress onto the second, specific core unit.
- Unit 1: Engineering Maths (recommended*) – this unit covers the fundamentals of mathematics required for successful completion of the specialised unit. You will cover algebra, trigonometry, statistics and basic calculus. If you already hold a mathematics qualification you may be eligible to choose an alternate unit.
- Unit 2: Aerospace Structures (core) – in this unit you will start by describing the features and functions of aerospace structures and the loads they are subjected to. You will then learn how to quantify the effects of static and dynamic loads in typical aerospace structures by examining the stress and loads typically encountered. Finally, you will begin to understand some of the typical machine components and systems used within aircraft structures such as gears and mechanisms as well as gyroscopes and the effects of friction in machinery.
* The recommended unit can be replaced by a different unit of your choice depending on your personal preference, or previous learning experience.
The Diploma in Aerospace Structures is an accredited online course offered by iLearn Engineering® that focuses on the design and analysis of aerospace structures. This specialised online engineering course is designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in the aerospace industry, particularly in the areas of aircraft design and analysis.
The course covers a wide range of topics, including the mechanics of materials, structural analysis, aircraft structural layout and the machine components and systems that comprise aircraft structures. Students will learn about the principles of stress and strain analysis, as well as the practical aspects of typical aircraft layouts, gyroscopes and machine components.
