Diploma in Environmental Engineering

Diploma in Environmental Engineering is a 40 credit course leading to the qualification of:

Diploma in Environmental Engineering (Level 6)

What will I study?

The course is delivered as an online engineering course, consisting of two 20 credit units. The first unit is a recommended unit which is designed to deliver some fundamental learning required to progress onto the second, specific core unit.

Unit 1: Water Engineering (recommended*)This unit focuses on the principles and applications of water engineering, covering the sustainable management of water resources, hydraulic system design, water supply, and wastewater treatment. Learners will develop the knowledge and skills needed to solve engineering challenges related to water management, ensuring reliable water supply, flood risk management, and effective treatment systems.

On successful completion, students will gain expertise in the design and management of water engineering projects, applying hydraulic principles to real-world scenarios.

Unit 2: Environmental Engineering (core)This unit provides an in-depth introduction to environmental engineering, focusing on sustainability in modern engineering practices. Learners will explore environmental systems, sustainability principles, and impact assessment methodologies, gaining the knowledge needed to evaluate and manage the environmental effects of engineering projects.

By the end of this unit, students will be able to apply environmental impact assessment (EIA) techniques and develop sustainable management strategies for environmental systems.

* The recommended unit can be replaced by a different unit of your choice depending on your personal preference, or previous learning experience.
